Inventory – Purchase Order Creation

Use this option to create manual purchase orders and sundry purchase orders.

Technical Tip Micronet can also create automatic purchase orders by analysing your company's sales figures and other stock information maintained in Micronet – refer to "Inventory - Automatic Purchase Orders".

Sundry purchase orders are for items that are not going to be stocked, resold or used on jobs – things like stationery, automobile services, safety equipment, etc. Purchase orders for sundry items are processed in the same way as normal stock lines except that you must:

• use a non-inventory stock item code – a non-inventory item such as NINV must be set up in the Inventory master file
• assign the purchase to a GL expense account at order creation time.

Before creating manual purchase orders, you may like to run the MDS Item Understock/Overstock report to see the suggested levels of item purchases Micronet calculates – refer to "Inventory Reports - Understock/Overstock Report".

If you need any special questions asked by MDS during order creation (e.g. requisition number), user defined questions can be created in your company configuration. The answers to these are stored in your purchase order header file.
